Ernest C. Withers operated a photo studio in Memphis for over 50 years and photographed virtually everyone of note who came from or through Memphis from the late 1930s through the 1980s. He is particularly noted today for his photographs of the civil rights movement and the Memphis blues scene. Text by music author Daniel Wolff.
